Billups is a sophmore, and has said publically on many occasions that he will return to Colorado next season.  The wild-card is the coaching situation.  Colorado's coach, Ricardo Patton, is being wooed by Memphis to replace Larry Finch.  Memphis is offering a ton of money on a multi-year contract.

Patton is the 11th best-paid coach in the Big XII, has horrible facilities, and cannot even get a reserved parking space near the practice facility or the arena.  He has asked CU to make a commitment to basketball for the long haul, and a 100% salary increase.  CU would like to keep him, but Patton is taking a lot of public flack for his "greed" and "excessive demands."  Colorado also has a weird state law that prohibits giving any state employees (including coaches) more than a one-year contract.

Given all this, Patton may not be back.  Billups recently said that if Patton leaves, and Billups is facing his third coach n three seasons, that he will consider turning pro.

That is the latest from Boulder...I will let you in on other rumors as they arise.
