more and more and more

I forgot to mention in my last post that I'm psyched about our two
first round picks. Besides the fact that we got the consensus top point
guard and two guard in the draft, it looks like Chauncey will develop into
the team's defensive leader and Mercer will be the first real go to guy
we've had since Reggie Lewis (R.I.P.).

Imagine a game tied with 10 seconds left. Chauncey brings up the
ball, beats his man, and dishes to Mercer who comes off a screen from
whoever and puts up a mid-range jumper while Antoine crashes the offensive
boards. If Mercer misses, Antoine grabs the rebound and dunks it home in
one motion.....CELTICS WIN!!!!

On the other hand I am a bit disappointed that Wallace had to
stroke his own ego and waste our second round pick. Based on size alone
Roberto Deunos (7'2", 270lbs,Spain) would have been a better pick than Ben
Pepper (7'0", 228lbs). Granted I've never seen either of them play, but
it seems like Wallace just wanted to pick someone that no one else in the
NBA had ever heard of. This allowed the Bulls to take Deunos with the
last pick of the draft. He'll probably replace Longley when Luc leaves
Chicago as a free agent next year.

Here's a trade idea: Since Philly wants to unload Coleman so
badly and we need cap flexibility next year, how about Pervis, Dana, and
Minor for DC. The salaries match perfectly and DC can be bought out at
the end of the season. I know DC would be a terrible influence but we can
always cut him. I'm guessing Philly would be leary of taking any other
players from us who were injured last year. And since all three of them
were, we might have to wait until a few games into the season before
making this move.

Another trade idea: Dee, Dana, Minor, or Pervis to Minnesota for
Stanley Roberts, whose contract is up next year. We should have tried
this with the Clippers before Kevin got him for Stojko.

I wish we could move Dee and Dana before free agency begins so
that we could have a wide open spot in the rotation for Wesley.

I guess Victor Page will be going back to Georgetown. Hopefully
John Thompson is a forgiving man.

P.S. Josh I wasn't at Brandeis for the press conference yesterday.
