my two cents

a player is not just annointed the franchise... or rarely... maybe if 
you're a big guy you are (ie. patrick, shaq..) but for the most part... 
you become it or more or less earn it.  was larry dubbed the franchise 
before he came?  what about magic?  what about michael?  isiah?  these 
guys were drafted on the hopes that they would be and all earned that 
designation... could antoine be it?  could!  mercer?  could!  billups?  
could.  let's just wait and see.

i also think that the c's are gonna win a lot more games than people 
think... maybe i'm crazy and if you think i am that's fine too... it's 
not the first time.  but with so many crappy teams in this league (i 
consider more than half to be crappy), a good coach can win you a fair 
share.  500 ball is not something i think is impossible but very 
realisitic.  talent wins games and we have a lot more talent than most of 
the teams in this league now.

kevin garnett is the real deal... i think.  7 foot small forward and 
still growing.  granted he's still raw... but he's only 20?  he's one of 
those guys who doesn't have to try very hard or have any learned skills in 
this league and still does o.k., much like webber.  if they just show up 
to the game, they double-double with a few blocks.  and from what i read 
(and i'm not saying that these sources are like the bible), he's wants to 
learn and be a player in this league... think about that if you want.  if 
you're a gm, and you find a kid with unlimited potential, 7 feet tall, 
quick as a cat, fast as a gazelle, doesn't get into trouble, can play all 
three front court positions... what would you pay for him?  i'm not 
saying he deserves jordan money... but more than ewing money?  yes indeed.
