Re: Pitino

Billups and Mercer but I got to say that the trade that never was for
Pippen, shoots big holes in my faith in Pitino. All the articles in the
Globe talk about how we got such great players in the draft but noone
questioned what the heck planet was Pitino on regarding the trade? It was a
typical ML move to sell the future for what appears to be a short term
gain, welcome back Dominique. I sure would feel better if Pitino at least
gave a rational explanation. 3 #1s, really ! I know he's a great coach but
he sure has some ground to prove when it comes to negotiating. In the
college ranks,
you can convince a kid to give up some their personal goals for the good
of the team but in the pro ranks, these guys are playing for their
contract. How happy are Minor, Brown, Barros going to be playing back up
minutes to Billups and Mercer. At least two of these guys have to go if the
teams to

I have got to go with Gary on this one. If this deal would have happened
it would have been comparable to the Chief & McHale deal with Golden St.,
but in favor of Chicago.Pippen & Longley ? Get serious ! Yeah we would
win 40 games maybe, but our future would be down the toilet, while Chicago
rebuilds with Mercer and Billups or McGrady. I really can't believe anyone
would even consider this unless it was an intermediary deal to bring a
couple of other players to Boston, but what a risk. But if he can pull of
a couple of deals to unload Barros, Minor, Brown, or Ellison and find some
diamonds in the rough I can forgive him.
