Mashburn traded to Miami

What is it about Pat Riley and his ability to make things happen? If he
can get even close to fully healthy, Mashburn could be the scoring forward
Riley needs for that team. And if you ask me, he gave up nothing to do it.

Wow!!

Here's the ESPN article:

Mavs send Mashburn to Miami

The Dallas Mavericks are shipping out a
second member of their Triple J Ranch, [Jamal Mashburn]
     according to ESPN's David Aldridge.
                                                Mashburn
Aldridge reported Friday that the ----------------
Mavericks have agreed to a trade that
sends forward Jamal Mashburn to the Miami Heat in exchange
     for three players.

In exchange for Mashburn, Aldridge reported that the
Mavericks will obtain Sasha Danilovic, Martin Muursepp and
     Kurt Thomas.

In December Dallas traded point guard Jason Kidd to Phoenix
for guard Sam Cassell and forwards Michael Finley and A.C.
     Green.

     Friday's trade of Mashburn, the
Mavericks' first-round draft choice in [Sasha Danilovic]
1993, leaves shooting guard Jim Jackson
as the only remaining member of the Danilovic
dynamic trio that led Dallas to a 36-46 -----------------
     record in 1994-95.

However, the team slumped to 26-56 last season and was
hampered by internal conflicts involving its three stars.

Mashburn, selected out of Kentucky with the fourth overall
pick in 1993, led all rookies with19.2 points per game in
his first season and was a first-team selection to the NBA
     All-Rookie squad.

Mashburn averaged 24 points per game, fifth in the NBA and
second among forwards, in his second season, but a knee
injury limited him to just 18 games last season. In 36 games
this season he is averaging nearly 11 points per game.

Danilovic, who signed with the Heat in as a free agent
before the 1995-96 season, is averaging 11.5 points in about
32 minutes per game. Thomas, a 6-foot-9 power forward in his
second season from Texas Christian, currently is on the
injured list. He averaged 9 points and nearly 6 rebounds per
     game last season.
