Sprewell had options.

It doesn't matter if some people like Sprewell and "stand by him." And
I certainly am in no position to pass judgment on whether Spre is "good"
or "evil." But, I am have a significant background in social work and
training in the area. And I have common sense. I know that if you
choke your boss, and then come back 15 minutes later and attack him
again, even if he is an ass that "needs" choking, you are missing a
basic ability to deal with frustration and can not control your anger.
The people like Johnny Cochran and his agent that make excuses and blame
others are prohibiting him from taking responsibility for his actions
and are depriving him of an opportunity to change. In all likelihood,
when faced with frustration, he will act with violence again, but
probably escalated. He is like a wife beater. (And I think that Minor
should not be playing for the Celtics either.) I am sorry he says and
really means it. All the suckers are taken in. I won't do it again, he
says. It was a mistake. The pattern is all too clear. You made me hit
you.

There will be no NBA if this type of behavior continues to be
tolerated. If I was the commissioner, I would have tossed Barkley this
year too. There is no reason for him to be playing after throwing
someone through a plate glass window. Maybe you can say it wasn't
connected with his work, but somewhere you got to take notice of the
fact that the guy is in some kind of fight somewhere every year.

Think about it. This is a crime committed by Sprewell. It is not some
temper tantrum like Rodman usually throws. He should be prosecuted. He
got off lucky.

And also, if he couldn't take the verbal abuse. He had an option. He
could have quit. That's all he had to do! Rick Barry did it. He sat
for a while till his contract was up. He didn't attack his coach or gm
because they wouldn't release him to play in the ABA. He also could
have picked up his attitude and passed the ball more crisply. Simple
enough.
