The Who to appear at festival
Rock legends The Who were announced as one of the
headline acts at this year's T In The Park festival.

Lead singer Roger Daltrey and guitarist Pete Townshend
will bring the curtain down on the event at Balado,

The veteran rockers, once notorious for smashing
guitars on stage, will headline the main stage of the
event on July 9.

It comes after Townshend made an impromptu appearance
at the event last year to play guitar with girlfriend
Rachel Fuller on one of the smaller stages.

American stars the Red Hot Chili Peppers will headline
on Saturday.

Organisers also revealed that British band of the
moment the Arctic Monkeys, fresh from the success of
their chart-topping single When The Sun Goes Down, are
to play at the two-day event.

Indie band the Kaiser Chiefs will also play on
Saturday while Scottish rockers Primal Scream will
return for their third appearance at the event at the
King Tut's Tent on Sunday night.

And after gaining national exposure on Celebrity Big
Brother, singer Preston will return to the festival
with his band the Ordinary Boys.

More than one third of the tickets have already been
sold for the event, with organisers expecting the
remainder to be snapped up quickly when they go on
sale this Friday.

About 69,000 revellers will attend each day and more
than 170 artists will play across 10 stages at the
