Me, too.  Nearly all Americans say "Townshend" with the stress on the
first syllable, & hardly ever give full pronunciation to the second.  It comes
out as  town' zuhn.

But many Brits put the stress on the second syllable giving it more of that 
fully enunciated "town's end" pronunciation.
