I know exactly the feeling, except for The Monkees, my
first musical love.  My favourite is Davy, for very
superficial reasons (I was only six when I fell in
love with them), and I know I'd have chosen a
different fave rave had I gotten into them at, say,
age 14 and up.  But it just seems wrong and
sacreligious to change your favourite member of your
first favourite band just because you get older and
your priorities in choosing a fave mature beyond just
the cutest one.  I switched my favourite Beatles, and
Pete has always been my favourite member of The Who,
since 6 February 1994 (I know the date because I'm
such a fanatic journaller; I even have that old entry
up on my website on the second half of the piece
entitled "Eight Years As My Fave Rave").
