Re: Bad idea and clean Who

What my problem with it is that Pete is going ahead with this and not considering us, the people who support him financially and emotionally. Maybe you think it is unreasonable that I am not eagerly anticipating having to defend against the barrage of ignorant comments which will follow the title to this song. BUT, the whole situation can be so easily avoided with no artistic compromise whatsoever. The content, the words, the music all remains intact. If The Who goes ahead with this, I'm not sure I'm willing to make the effort to defend it every time it is brought up. It will take an emotionally exhausting effort to do this, yet almost no effort for Pete to avoid it.

I'm looking beyond what you are saying to what you
mean - whether it was intentional by you or not. It is
different than trying to put words in your mouth, which
by the way, I am not.

You say: "Pete is going ahead...not considering us".
This is just misplaced vanity talking here.

You say: "I am not eagerly anticipating having to defend
against..."
If you're a fan, you're a fan. There is no need to defend
The Who's work. Their studio and live recordings as well
as their concert history do that well enough.

You say: "...no artistic compromise whatsoever." Says you!
I'm sure if you asked Pete - the artist - he'd have a
somewhat, different take on this.

You say: "I'm not sure I'm willing to make the effort to
defend..."
Nobody's asking you. I really don't think this is a
call to arms by Who fans. It's just another tricky day.

Just let it flow.

If you must do something while you wait, perhaps you could
write to Eel Pie as a cover band and receive some advance
sheet music and lyrics. ;-)
