Sun man is radio king
By EMILY SMITH

THE Sun's Dominic Mohan last night won a radio
"Oscar".

Dominic, who hosts a Sunday afternoon show on Virgin,
beat BBC favourite Jonathan Ross to scoop the Best
Single Programme gong at the Sony Radio Awards.

He won it for a special he broadcast on rock legends
The Who which featured an interview with frontman
Roger Daltrey.

The judging panel - which included telly newsgirl
Kirsty Young and DJs Tony Blackburn and Neil Fox -
said: "Mohan mixes his journalism with a genuine
interest and broadcasting capability. This results in
an excellent show.

"He isn't afraid to get straight in and ask the
questions.

"There is laughter, tears and some great music."

Dominic, 33, who launches his new column in The Sun
tomorrow, said: "It's a tremendous honour to win this
award."

He was presented with his gong by former Page 3 Girl
Sam Fox at London's Grosvenor House hotel.

Other winners on the night included BBC Radio 4, which
won the trophy for best national radio station, and
John Humphrys who won the gold award for outstanding
contribution.
