Here's another article that mentions Pete and says he was "charged" with

Pete Townshend was detained for questioning but not charged in this 
investigation.  The UK papers have recently quoted sources as saying Mr. 
Townshend will receive a formal caution, as his explanation that he was 
conducting research for writings on child abuse and child porn have been 
verified.

Pete Townshend is a man of integrity who has publically campaigned against 
child abuse and child porn for years.  He operates charities for victims of 
abuse and addiction, and is also a tireless fundraiser for children's 
charites.  Please keep the facts straight on this investigation, and please 
support Mr. Townshend's efforts to stop child pornography.  Thank you.
