Besides all this, water is a strong symbol in Eastern mysticism, indicating (if I'm not mistaken) purity, cleansing, and rebirth.

I guess you'd have to ask *him* to get the complete answer, but like
I told Tom, Pete seems to be fascinated by rivers, seas, oceans, etc.
Plus, he's an avid sailor, too (like you, Kevin!).

Many writers have used water imagery over the years.  It's a concrete
(!) image that no human can fail to understand.  It's a constant part
of our lives.  We use it, we depend on it.  We always have.

Pete's always been drawn to water.  It seems to be in his blood.  Water,
the ocean, rivers, the sea.....it's all a part of who he is.
