love ain't for keeping

Here is my very basic interpretation of this song.

Lyrics: Layin' on my back
In the newly mown grass
Rain is coming down
But I know the clouds will pass

<We are out in the back yard....for some reason I don't know (I prefer a bed
myself). Anyway, relaxing, looking at the sky, it starts to rain, briefly.

You bring me tea
Say "the babe's a-sleepin'"
Lay down beside me
Love ain't for keeping

<The tea thing is an English thing, could be a beer, wine or a soda. But
whatever your favorite drink is, put it down,'cause the kid is sleeping so let's
make love >

Black ash from the foundry
Hangs like a hood
But the air is perfumed
By the burning firewood
The seeds are bursting
The spring is seeping
Lay down beside me
Love ain't for keeping
Lay down beside me
Love ain't for keeping

<We've moved into the house, which is a bummer because it needs to be
cleaned, especially the soot. But, let's enjoy the fire anyway. Bursting and seeping
are clearly sexual. But, whatever, let's make love again.>

Lay down beside me
Love ain't for keeping
Lay down my darling
Love ain't for keeping

<and again>

;)
