I'm going to have to disagree with you on that one. He's been a
celebrity for *how many* decades now? I think he used to be street
smart, but hasn't had to be in quite a few years now. I'd guess that
because of his fame and wealth, he is somewhat sheltered.

True. I believe that his only mistakes in this were in his judgement
-- or lack of, especially in using his credit card.

Well, one thing about a lot of 60s liberals is that they were
incredibly idealistic and really believed that they could change the
world. And I think that was his intention when he got the boneheaded
idea to use his own credit card in a "know the enemy" mission.
