MUSICAL legend Sir Elton John said he was "shocked"
over the arrest of his rock star pal Pete Townshend,
saying he loved him and that he was thinking of him.

John made the comments about his fellow Briton and The
Who guitarist Townshend, who was arrested earlier on
Monday in London on child pornography charges, after
performing at the American Music Awards in Los
Angeles.

"I'm very shocked, and I hope it's not as bad as it
sounds," John told reporters.

"I don't know anything about it to be honest with you,
but I'm a friend of Pete's, I love Pete and my
thoughts are with him."

Veteran artist Pat Boone, a presenter, said backstage
it was "human nature to be curious about things that
exist," but added it was a "big mistake" for anyone to
have anything to do with child pornography.
