OK, that was my alternate belief.  Everything you say sounds true.  I have another theory that the sound people had an effect on his voice that provided a powerful sustain of the note as it came out initially, then he brought the mike away from his mouth to create the trailing echo.  I have noticed that the note sounds fine right off the bat in 2000 boots and 2002 encores, but it wavers as he sustains it and can sound off.  If my theory is true about RAH 2000, then he should do it that way in all shows.  It sounded great.

Hey, any chance that the sound people had a pre-recorded "haaaad!" cued up and played it right after Roger's opening note to "sweeten" it a bit?  I'm not upset if it was altered or sweetened or overdubbed.  It's just my own curoisity.
