Re: Book watch

I've just received a book written by Freddie Bannister, called "There must be a better way", which is his self penned history of his 30 odd years as a concert and festival promoter.

He was responsible for the Knebworth festivals of the '70's, and I've read up to the 1970 Bath festival he promoted, and it truly is a fascinating and absorbing read.

Full of "colour" about the bands, people and places he promoted gigs at, including a very interesting story about Roger Daltrey and one of the dance hall stewards at a concert by the Who in the Bath Pavilion in 1965.

The book does also contain a number of photos of the Who in the '60's, and reveals that he negotiated with The Who for them to headline one of the Knebworth festivals.

Much of the book looks like it leans heavily on the relationship between Freddie and Led Zeppelin, but there is more than plenty for anyone, especially those British listers who may even be old enough to have attended on those shows.

It's available from www.rockmemorabilia.com for #13 plus postage, about #15.50 altogether, or telephone 01223 526073.

Cheers,

John
