New rock?

Indeed, that's the case with many of the young bands - many of them from Australia - who are riding the crest of the wave referred to in some parts of the music press as "new rock". They are following music forms laid out by acts such as the Stones, the Stooges, MC5, the Faces, Led Zeppelin, Radio Birdman, and AC-DC from the late '60s to the late '70s.

Guitar heroes of old rate highly with these new groups, with Tim Rogers's idol, Keith Richards of the Stones - a musical and medical marvel to many young rock fans - and Pete Townshend of the Who holding stellar positions. The British band the Libertines persuaded the guitar maestro of the Clash, Mick Jones, to produce its recent album, Up The Bracket. Another young British group, Hoggboy, sought some reheated glory by coaxing out of retirement Chris Thomas, who oversaw the Sex Pistols album Never Mind the Bollocks, to produce its material
