proud" comment was really full scale support of Jeff and an endorsement of
me???

No (I KNEW I was going to have to explain this to you because you cannot grasp even the simpliest concept). First I agreed with him ("I'll bet you do.") and then said that if he is going to be "close to you" he should go for it, live it, be proud of it. To me it's like failing an intelligence test, but if someone wants to be counted as a friend of yours, then good for them! It's got to be tough.
