post-tour musings

T. Andrew Finn said: "I say subjective impression because I think most fans
(and reviewers, for that matter) are mistaken if they believe they can
objectively compare shows. Every fan is
under the influence of a variety of subjective factors that we usually fail
to consider, except in passing...." and some other good stuff.

Hey Andy,
I've been meaning to express this view for some time now, but I just don't
have the tools or the patience. I seem to be unable to express
philosophical concepts like subjectivity and relativism. Bravo to you!

How can I compare my Mansfield/Boston II experience to any other concert
experience? I stood at Roger Daltrey's feet with two of the most
enthusiastic, wonderful Who fans on the Who planet. I think that I would be
out of my ever-freaking mind to compare that to anything that I've ever
experienced. That doesn't discount my opinion (IMO) of the show, but it
does color it - big time.

I think the question should not be "how to compare" but "why to compare".

Of course I have never said that people shouldn't compare, but I do reserve
the right to disagree with the premise underlying any comparison. Besides,
how the hell could I ever stop anyone from posting any opintion? Why the
hell would I? It's just too much fun to disagree and be contrary.

Those last two questions were rhetorical ;-)
