Re: "Hope I die before I get old"

I am still baffled that this line keeps getting thrown around in the way it does here and elsewhere. "Getting old" is not meant to be taken as actual age, IMHO. "Old" is a state of mind. I can say with absolute certainty that I hope I die before I get old. Someone can be 80 years old but have the state of mind of a young person, with the same creativity and vitality. Physically we must all get old, but emotionally we can stay as young as we wish. Anyone who saw Roger and Pete on this tour, or has seen JAE play his bass with more skill and ferocity than ever right up to his death, knows that these people are not old. An old person doesn't windmill and leap around like a maniac and smash guitars, or scream and twirl a microphone and obliterate tamborines. An old person could never create the mesmerizing 5.15 bass solo. This is why we love them, and always will. It is time to treat this phrase as it was intended.
