new distribution methods

Thanks to Buck at The Shout for the reference:

"Something has to give at the distribution level," Light says. "You need new machinery to get music out there, maybe the emergence of something not tied to the major labels. We'll see a shift when someone cracks that end of it."

This is definitely the truth, but the record labels are maneuvering to cut off any new distribution methods. They want to retain the old system. Whoever developes this will have to fly under their radar.
