I wonder where Spin magazine would rank in a list of the top Rock magazines
of all time.

Let's not forget that magazines use these "lists" to sell more copies.  It's a way
to garner the attention of a wide range of music fans ("Where does my favorite 
band rank?")

The arguements & discussions take place - & Spin magazine gets a free plug
each time (& maybe more sales).

All the while, we know the truth.
