Most American homes didn't have central heat until the 70's either. Hell,
many still don't. I was fortunate enough to grow up in an area which
mandated AC, so heat came with it more or less. But there were houses, even
here, without AC and only baseboard heat. I once rented one, having to
supply these things myself.

I think that's a common difference, and there are more cars here because
it's more spread out plus there's not much in the way of public
transportation (not in the sense you have there). So to work, you have to
have a car.

That would be the 1989 tour, but Walsh didn't do it. Why, I don't know, but
I remember writing an article about it for a local paper before he canceled.
