Re: Politically Incorrect

A little caveat here before I start: I don't actually know squat about UK
politics. That said, I'll have at it anyway.

I gather that Roger and Pete both lean socialist (though I haven't heard
John comment). All of TED hung on doggedly during the years when taxation
in the UK approached 95% to fund heavily socialist government programs, when
most rich rock stars took off for foreign climes, because TED apparently had
faith in the programs. This is one reason why they are now poorer than
their contemporary rock stars.

Roger and Pete will periodically surprise interviewers, and sometimes fans
as well, with rants about government policies. I believe Roger's latest
dissatisfactions involve the government treatment of farmers, and after last
year's hoof and mouth debacle, I can't say I'm surprised.

Unfortunately Roger wasn't invited to "Politically Incorrect" shows
regarding farm economics or the music business or the effects of Napster on
cd sales. Instead, he was, for some reason, invited to shows where the main
topic of discussion was sex. Is that a surprise, or what?

Anyhow, the first show was in London and Roger did what many guests do,
which is also what makes the show so entertaining: He said what he thought
about sex education--to the effect that it was hands-on. This caused a
little flap, and some gasps from the other guests, but it must have been
true, because we haven't heard anything about a lawsuit. I suspect he might
have said something else that was of substance, too, but they went to an ad,
so we missed it.

Roger's second appearance was in L.A., on the topic of pedophilia and
sexploitation of teens, and this time he was a little better prepared for
the format. No impending lawsuits this time, but he made some intelligent
comments on the difference between the UK and the US, and about when he was
bringing up his children as opposed to conditions in the UK now.
