good neighbour/iraq

Now that's a good point.

Do you think that Saddam Hussein was wrong in the Gulf
War? PLEASE UNDERSTAND, I don't agree with Saddam. His
dictatorship is odious, and it must be very difficult
to find a single good thing about him. But what made
USA declare war on Iraq was THE ONLY THING in which
Saddam Hussein was right. Let me explain:

Imagine you live in a country that has only one source
of wealth. And that source of wealth is much
concentrated on a small region of your country. Then
one day, due to foreign interests, that region of your
country is no longer part of your country. That's what
happened on Iraq: Kuwait always was part of Iraq. Then
USA declared war on Iraq because they were trying to
get Kuwait back. The war wasn't declared because
Saddam Hussein was a bad guy, or because he runned a
nasty dictatorship or for defense of the human rights:
it was declared because Saddam wanted to
re-incorporate Kuwait to Iraq's territory, which, as I
said earlier, was THE ONLY THING in which he was
right.

It's all about oil, that's the truth. And this is not
the first time that this happened. Bolivians and
Paraguayans, citizens of two insolvent countries,
killed themselves in a war financed by Shell and
Standard Oil. Nearly 150.000 men were killed. The two
countries were ruined, and they pay for
the loans assumed to buy armaments to kill their
brothers until today. A large portion of Brazil's
income is used to pay for the absurdous external debts
generated by the military dictatorship that was
financed by the USA. It's hard for young latin
american people to think of US as a good neighbour. Of
course, this does not means that there are people here
seeing any good side on the attacks. As I said
earlier, the latin americans are a non-belicist
people.

Of course this is not the right time to think about
it, but US must rethink its external politics.
Children are being mutilated on Africa in countries
that have dictatorships even more odious than the ones
in the Middle East, and nothing is being done.
