Pete wins Ivor Novello Award
Pete was today presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Ivor
Novello Awards, which took place this afternoon in London at the Dorchester
Hotel. The 'Ivors' are the awards of the British Academy of Composers and
Songwriters and this was the 46th year of the awards. Pete's award was
presented by Bruce Welch of The Shadows. In his acceptance sppech Pete
remarked how much he had based his playing around Bruce's. He thanked the
rest of The Who for their contribution (Roger was in attendance).
Pete also presented the Clash with an award for Outstanding Contribution to
British Music. In his speech he said that he was a real fan of the band and
was happy to be presenting the award.
Photography was banned from the hall but I sneaked a couple off which (if
they turn out any good) I'll put them up later.
