Re: Musicmaker.com folds

``Musicmaker was essentially caught behind the times,'' said Forrester
Research analyst Eric Scheirer. ``Several years ago the custom CD market may
have been a good idea. But they underestimated how popular portable MP3
players, Napster and recordable CDs would become.''

Well Thats true but I cant help but see the same type of thing that happened
to Mobile Fidelity sound lab. THe Record companies have a monopoly and
competition will not be tolerated. No matter how high the demand is for the
product is better, and a true advancement in technology. So hopefully
record companies will acquire the traits of Musicmaker.com like they did
when they put MFSL out of business.(supposedly they were never paid back
large sums of capital from major record lables) Most every single major
artist has put out some Re-master recordings when people realized what they
had been putting up with. Granted it took a while but it should work to
everyones benefit.

"But ultimately the company could not reach licensing agreements with enough
record labels to enhance its catalog and offering -- assembling compact disc
compilations based on selections made by customers from the catalog,
analysts said."
