Re: The Who Mailing List Digest V8 #228

i dunno, don't you think it's kinda weird that when a band that's out there
today or came out in the 70's (especially the american ones) gets asked "who
was your inspiration?" the first band that comes out of their mouths are the
beatles?
just something i find interesting.

"if you remember the 60's, you werent there"

"i hope i die before i get old"

Ok I just wanted to add my 2 cents in about the Beatles vs. The Who. Now I
am by no means a Beatles junkie like I am with the Who. Sure the Beatles
were good and I am sure if I listened to some of the much acclaimed albums
like Sgt. Pepper and Revolver, then I might change my tune. And one day I
will listen to them. However, I know most of the famous Beatles songs. ANd
they are good. But to me they all sound basically about the same. And I
have heard that from a lot of people. The Who are pretty much in a class of
their own. The rock opera concept, and just the general sound of the group
is so unique and ground-breaking, not to mention they could kick any other
group's ass as a live act...(now maybe Led Zeppelin in their prime would give
them a good run for their money) By the way, has anyone noticed on Green
Day's song "Warning" how that one guitar sound in the middle of the song
sounds just like the Who??? Well anyway, maybe I will go find a copy of
Revolver now to listen to :) I just think overall the Beatles are WAY
overrated. Just my opinion though.
