ATLANTA!!! GREAT STATE OF GEORGIA!! GOING TO THE COUNTRY GONNA EAT ME A
BUNCH OF PEACHES!! :-)

Tired of touring, and psyched for the end?
It's funny, I like when Pete is in a good mood and seeming to be having a
grand time, but oooooooo I also like when Pete is "Pete The Surly Punk". Who
music to me, in general with obviously many exceptions, is about anger and
discontent. Does Pete forcibly send himself into these moods to really
"connect" with the music of The Who? It's always been one of the more
interesting aspects about the man, and the band. I mean, the music, solo,
can be nice and melodic. But, unleash it with The Who?........fucking look
out.

I don't *think* you gave me that impression. Maybe your making a point to
state very clearly that you *weren't* into multiple shows, combined with what
Pete wrote and the subsequent hurt expressed by some listers, made me feel I
needed to "go to bat" for those doing some traveling this summer.

I don't know. Is that humility? I mean, Pete's music is saturated with
religion. It's one of the reasons I like his music so much. Its'
spirituality. He's a follower of Meher Baba. I'm a follower of Pete. I
like his religious thoughts and ideas. Hell, Lifehouse is about that
connection with fan, band, and "a better place". Isn't heaven the only other
"better place" that we know of??
I'm not looking to Pete for a connection with "God" or anything like that.
At least I don't think I am. Am I?? But it *is* some damn pretty good Life
advise he's dishing out. All based on his own religious beliefs. And the
energy is pretty fucking uplifting and reassuring. It *does* take you away
(sorry Pete, but it does!). Let me be clear. Pete is not god. The Who is
not religion. But much of their message is. It's a way of looking at, and
relating to the world. You *have* to believe a bit, don't you?
I think what Pete doesn't want is for people to come to a Who Show and always
expect a functional family unit up on stage. That's not what they have ever
been. They have the same problems as we have with our families. Again, if
it was *all* hugs and kisses up there, where would the anger and discontent
and rebellious passion fit in?? Don't we need anger and discontent and
rebellion to achieve "a better place"??

>> There is community. There is family.

Yeah, I can't imagine that Pete doesn't think there is a "who community". I
mean, it's pretty obvious there is. He's got to know we're out there. I
keep coming back to the thought of does it all (The Who) really work without
the turmoil? I mean, it always works, but those special nights like at
Hamden.......there is a special beast in The Who that needs a certain type of
food to really get him going and spitting. Something like raw meat should do
the trick. This beast isn't just made up of one man. The beast is
Quadrophenic.

Oh....no.....it's.....The Beast....again! (lips moving not in since with
sound)
 Run.......,.....run for ......your life....!
Ultraman......where.are.......you????

Try and stay "PC" with me. "The Who's Art touches *us* both more
*significantly* than Loverboy's". ;-) ;-) ;-)

>History tells us that the bands themselves are usually the worst judges of

I wonder how much of that is humility.

>Alright, second worse to the labels.

It's a wonder the labels don't get shit on their hands while they wipe their
butts.
And, it's also a wonder the labels can find their way home at night. :)

>Who's Marc?
Whoops, sorry man. I'm usually pretty conscious about that kind of stuff.
I'm having a computer-hell week. Upgrade at work has caused me to change my
"style", and I also can't get access from home (hence the AOL crap).
With a name of *K*evin, you'd think I would have gone the other way.

>Damn, is it winter up there already? It's still in the high 90's here!

It's comming. The signs are there. Ski ticket ads on the radio is a good
one. ;-)
