Blue, Red and Grey

Okay, okay I'm know I'm a little late with this one thread-wise but I've
been away (to quote one of John's lesser songs) - I've heard Blue, Red and
Grey described as 'the chink in the armour' on "By Numbers". I'm not sure
what level the criticism is aimed at but I think it's reasonably valid. I
actually like the song itself but I find the dreadful Sunday morning
Salvation Army band horn section a little mawkish.
Having said that, consider this - the horn arrangement replaced with a folk
violin and sung by Ronnie Lane (God bless him!) on Rough Mix. I'll buy that
for a dollar!
I do really love Sunrise though - yes, there was a special girl. I recently
got out my Mickey Baker's Jazz Guitar book and practiced the chords for a
few weeks and after not having looked at the song for about 6 years I found
this time I'd mastered it - except for that fast picking in the quiet
interlude - God, Pete can pick as fast as he can strum!!

P.S. Can you Americans take the politics outside - you're beginning to amuse
me - Jesus!
