THE KIDS ARE REALLY ALRIGHT

It seems only appropriate for us all to spread the word that The Who's
music
is actually time well spent and can be an antidote for the frustrations of
life.
Well i have taken it upon myself recently to introduce The Who to a
friend of mine. He was already a huge fan of Pink floyd mostly inparticular
The Wall and Roger Waters solo stuff. Somehow the agnst and frustration in
that music was a catharsis for him, since he like most people at 17 have
emotional issues of some degree. And since the album "The Wall" is very
derivative of Tommy and Quadrophenia (no intended offense floyd fans) I
thought he might like hearing Quadrophenia.
Well he immediatly took to it and it became his new favorite. He now is
constantly asking me questions like "what album should he get next" "when
are tickets going to be available for the Atlanta and Miami shows".
He tried to get into led zeppelins' music but couldnt stand the lyrics
because he
said" They dont go anywhere".
But he is somewhat of an introvert he admitts that he usually goes
into a shell in public places and its because emotionally he cant handle it.
But as he gets older he realizes that
he must change and come out of the shell. And the who's music can often
make it easier for him , providing a buffer that makes for a smoother
transition to being confident.
Recently he showed "The Kids Are Alright" to his philosophy class. And Most
of them seemed to like it. (Most of the kids in the class are obviously of
some intelligence) Of course they all liked Keith's bits in the film. The
may be too young to appreciate Pete's viewpoints in the film .
But getting back to my friend,,, he has started to really identify with the
energy and viewpoint that the who project, it seems to have given him an
outlet and some security.
But he has now started to branch out and expose the who to others because he
realised that the who's music is more than music, its the greatest remedy
for everyday life ever invented. Because Ive found that i dont just like
the music, I need it, and so does he.
(its much more but thats the short explanation). So we both await the
announcement of the second leg of the new tour and a pair of tickets.
(anybody hear anything yet?)
So Thanks for indulging me as I ramble on about my experiences spreading who
fandom to those unaware of such things.
