>The court ruling is the second legal victory in less than
two weeks for the RIAA. On April 28, a U.S. District
Court Judge in New York ruled against MP3.com, an
online music provider. Though the RIAA has received
statements and actions of support from the likes of
Metallica, Dr. Dre, Lou Reed, Aimee Mann, Art
Alexakis of Everclear and numerous others, a number
of acts have rushed to Napster's defense in the past
weeks. Limp Bizkit and Cypress Hill will soon launch a
free tour with Napster picking up the $1.8 million tab
and Public Enemy's Chuck D spoke out in the New
York Times a week ago, claiming that Napster created
"new fan interest" in music and established "a new
infrastructure for unknown artists to attract an
audience."
