FANS OF CULT MOD FILM TAKE TO STREETS
Fans of the cult film "Quadrophenia" can follow it's progress through the
streets later this month.
Tour guide and film fan Glenda Clarke has devised a 90-minute walking tour
along roads and alleys in Brighton before the film is screened at the Duke
of York's cinema in Preston Circus on Sunday July 30th.
She will share anecdotes and photographs at each location, discussing the
story and characters as well as the real-life mods and rockers' battles on
which the film was based.
Glenda said: "Even though it was made back in 1979, "Quadrophenia" still has
a big cult following in this country and overseas.
"Visitors to Brighton often ask about it. They want to walk along the alley
used by Jimmy and Steph and have a drink in the cafe which features as the
mods' meeting place.
"I expect fans of all ages to join the walking tour, including maybe some of
the local people who were extras.
"It will be fun guessing which were mods and which were rockers."
Tickets for the tour, which costs £5, and departs at 3.30pm, are available
from the visitor centre at Bartholomew Square in Brighton.
Reservations can be made with Glenda Clarke at 01273.888596
