Lifehouse and BBC, of cuss

>Don't forget "Face The Face". And while we're at it John's "Talk Dirty"
>shows he can throw down as well.

Brian:

I had forgotten indeed. The damned pain medicine, you know. I'll be glad to
be done with it.

>Well that's what happens here, only the "hero" is the villain.

Brick is the dad? Interesting. He seems more sympathetic in this version.
Course I have to make time to listen to it a few more times, too.

> Listening to
>it again, so much of "Lifehouse '99" drips with self-accusation and
>self-pity. Well, at least that part's Pete!

Yes, indeed.

>When Pete sings it it's obviously a joke. Roger's read comes out like
>"there's adhesive tape on my nose. Stop laughing."

That IS funny, because when they started Pete was the "geek" and Rog the
"cool guy." Intelligence will out, as they say. Or I say, at least...

>Wow, different opinion here. When I finally heard Roger sing that I
thought
>"so that's how it should be sung." Maybe Roger was just a better singer in
>1970/1?

He was, certainly...but it's tradition to have Pete sing the middle bit and
I suppose I'm just a traditionalist at heart. Although I still maintain if
the new Who album sounds like the versions of Who Are You on the third disc
of Lifehouse Chronicles, I'll be a happy man.

>"Lifehouse Elements". As I already posted on Pete's BBS (aren't you on
>there, Mark?) a single CD of it has already come out. It's called "Who's
>Next".

I am (see the note Better Late Than Never) and I did read that after I sent
the list note. But these days I'm very busy at the store, in fact in the
last two months I've consistantly made new sales records, so I only get to
it once a week at the most. I meant to send an expanded version of my
Lifehouse review there, but it got away from me and now too much time has
passed...so I'll wait for more to.

Besides, I am FINALLY in possession of BBC Sessions (Boris on currently) and
so more to do, more to do. I find it interesting that the bonus disc is
entitled Live At The BBC instead of BBC Sessions, and it is less live than
the first disc! Those who have been unable to get the bonus disc, you're not
missing a whole lot. Pinball Wizard is the only great track, and they COULD
have fit that on the first disc! The rest amounts to a two minute inteview
about Tommy, and the rest of the tracks are almost the same as the released
ones. A few overdubed vocals, not great...I Can See For Miles has already
been released on Singles, and Summertime Blues on the remixed Odds And Sods.
Rather a let down, at least for me. I plan to make another disc containing
these tracks and the ones left off, which are on Max BBC (Man With Money, So
Sad About Us, Our Love Was, I Can't Reach You, and the full length Shaking
All Over), using Dart Pro to take out the hiss of course, and put it on my
trade list for those who simply cannot get the BB version. This one will be
better anyway.

>the best, in terms of actually being better than the Who's version?

Cpb:

Apart from the aforementioned Sister Disco, my main contender would be
Sensation. I guess I'd probably include Time Is Passing, too. At least the
WCF version, which I like a little better than the new one.

>guitarist has decided to release a single album titled Lifehouse Elements
in
>May. The collection, which will be released on the new Red Line label, is
>expected to contain 16 tracks; the song selection is currently being worked
>out, although fans can expect the album to be loaded with all of the key
>tracks from the aborted rock opera.

Gary:

Boy, is THAT a typical press release! "All of the key tracks" won't fit.

                   Cheers ML
