>The various songsmiths and organizations claim that
Universal has placed numerous copyrighted works
onto the Farmclub.com server without authorization.
"Universal's Web site, known as 'Doug and Jimmy's
Farmclub' offers Internet users the ability to access
Unversal's sound recording catalogue online via the
process of 'streaming on demand,'" a release from
the NMPA states. "The record company, however,
has failed to license the use of the copyrighted
music embodied in these sound recordings. The
plaintiffs allege that licenses must be obtained
before musical compositions are reproduced in the
company's database."
