The Filmore show is pretty decent; lots of high end, but then again,
most CD boots of this show have that. The bass is there, even if you
have to boost it a little (on some boots, there's very little bass). Every-
thing's included, even all dialogue. Question: What happened to the
first half of "A Quick One?" It's always absent !

The "Beat Club" stuff is pretty much muddy studio versions with some
audience noise at the ends of each song. No need really to put this
stuff on a boot CD. It just begs for the visuals.

The "Marquee Club" stuff does have a spoken intro from an announcer:
"Ladies & gentlemen, The WHO !" "So Sad About Us" can be found
on the 30 YEARS video, although *that* audio wasn't used here. The
sound is bad. Muddy & weak. After the song the announcer says,
"Originally recorded by The Merseys, & it was entitled "So Sad."
The "My Generation" has the same poor sound quality. No comments
from Mr. Announcer after this song, however.

The inside sleave has "liner notes" (kinda rare for boots):

"What is there to say except that this is a WHO concert for
the ages. It was good that it was almost released as a live
LP (reaching the acetate stage from which this was taken)
before being scrubbed in favor of a new studio LP consider-
ing the volume of new songs the band had. The sound of this
concert is impeccable, coming not from the soundboard but
professionally mixed stereo acetates. The set selection repre-
sents some of the best known & rare gems of the pre-TOMMY
WHO. Especially delightful is "Little Billy," a weird but droll
song only Pete Townshend could come up with about an un-
popular non-smoking boy who outlives all of his contempor-
aries who smoke. The most incredible performance you'll ever
hear of "Shakin' All Over" is the peak of this concert. Worth
the price of admission alone. If you can sit still to this one
check your pulse because you may be dead.

"As bonus tracks are two songs from German TV with a great
cover of the Motown hit "Heatwave" & a short little known
BBC broadcast of one of their most sophisticated early songs
"So Sad About Us," & a rousing "My Generation." You'll have
a hard time keeping this one out of the CD player"

Final Grade: B (only for the decent '68 Filmore material)
