RE: Quad vs. Lifehouse and are they really painted clowns?

In reading Kevin O'Neal's interesting post, just felt the need to
comment on one matter: Quadrophenia (the album) was the reason I became
a WHO fan in the first place. It came out at the exact same time I was
going through all my adolescent angst.....I couldn't believe Townshend
had crawled into my brain to get inspiration for these songs! The album
seemed very cohesive, and made perfect sense (I always had a bit of
trouble with Tommy, and did my best to ignore Pinball Wizard in high
school...I've since repented). When the film Quadrophenia came out, I
was totally uninterested in seeing it....I knew it wouldn't be the same.
And it wasn't.

But since there was no actual Lifehouse concept album out when I was
young, I could probably approach a film or stage version with fresh
eyes. To tell the truth, between the Who's Next album, Pete's
interviews on the subject, the bits of Chronicles I've heard, and
Psychoderelict, I am far from enlightened on the Lifehouse story.

BTW, there was a Harvard professor on a t.v. talk show last night,
expounding on a "String Theory" of the universe...all matter is made up
of microscopic strings, we're all just part of a universal
harp...playing the one cosmic note....and I thought, " Oh yeh, another
Who fan here..."
