Q.  I haven't heard much recently about one of my
     favorite musicians, Roger Daltrey of the British
     rock band The Who.  Can you tell me what he's
     up to? -- J. Suarez, Austin, Tex.

A.  After 35 years with The Who, Daltrey, 55, now
     spends most of his time acting on the stage
     and screen.  "Acting and music are totally
     different," he tells us.  "When I do music, I'm
     this kind of bare chested, curly haired singer
     with a great scream.  When I'm acting, I step
     outside myself and get people to forget the
     Roger Daltrey image."  He can be seen on NBC
     tonight and tomorrow as the king of the fairies
     (with an upper-class accent) in a Hallmark
     miniseries, THE MAGICAL LEGEND OF THE
     LEPRECHAUNS.  It co-stars Randy Quaid and
     Whoopi Goldberg.  (No, Whoopi doesn't play a
     leprechaun.)
