This is a reference to Francis Ford Coppola's "Rumble Fish" isn't it?  That film
is in black-and-white with little bits of color (the rumble fish themselves). 
And I wonder if the ending, with Matt riding his brother's Harley to the
seaside, reminded Pete of any of his own works?
