The New Who Movie Review . . .

Right on the heals of having BOR featured in the ads for the new Disney
movie, A BUG'S LIFE, I was at the movies today, and saw a preview for the
upcoming Disney/Touchstone Pictures comedy RUSHMORE. The movie is not due
for general release until early February, but will be in "limited release"
(i.e. New York and Los Angeles) starting December 11. (The ad in today's LA
Times is apparently trying to push Bill Murray . . . yes, THAT Bill Murray,
a supporting actor Oscar nomination, and the Academy rules state that the
picture has to be in release for at least a week in LA and NY in order for
it to get considered.)

While the movie itself seems to be a fairly standard coming of age comedy
judging from the first part of the preview (misunderstood teenage genius
falls in love with slightly older teacher) with some black comedy thrown
into the mix (thanks to Murray, as a older businessman who befriends the
youth, and falls in love with the teacher), about 1:30 into the preview,
when the youth finds out about Murray's betrayal of him, we then hear in the
background (actually more in the foreground) the words . . . "CELLO, CELLO,
CELLO, CELLO!" and for the next minute, I was treated to the conclusion of
the preview over a soundtrack of AQO!!!

While (unlike A BUG'S LIFE apparently, which I have not seen) I have not
confirmed this, there appears to be a pretty good chance that The Who will
actually be on the soundtrack of RUSHMORE (a couple of reviews that I have
dug up mentioned a killer soundtrack of "obscure British Invasion" songs).

The preview is available on line at http://www.movies.com/rushmore/ .
