Well, it is a very confusing song in the form it takes on the original
album.
When does the confrontation take place?
What does Cpt. Walker do to the lover?
To whom is Mrs. Walker singing each of her lines: the lover or Cpt.
Walker?

I originally thought the confusion was meant to express the vagueness in
the mind of the young Tommy.  Research about the writing, however,
suggests the confusion may have been more in Pete's mind than Tommy's.
