Baba au rhum - the translation

Brian Cady posted the ingredients to Baba au rhum (no extra capital letters
in French). Here it is in English.

        You need:
125g flour
70g sugar
1/2 cup of milk
3 eggs
1 packet of yeast
a little butter
a pinch of salt
130g powdered sugar } for
1 cup of brown rum } syrup

Start with the syrup. In a pan, boil 1/4 cup of water and the
powdered sugar for 2 minutes. Then take it off the heat and add the rum.
Preheat the oven to thermostat 5. (Hope you can figure what that
is!) In a salad bowl, mix the sugar and the yellows of the eggs with a
wooden spoon. When the mixture is pretty much white again, add the milk,
the flour and the yeast.
Beat the whites of the eggs and the pinch of salt until white and
firm, and add them little by little to the rum mixture. Butter a pan which
is big enough so that the batter does not fill it higher than 3/4 of the
way. Pour in the batter and put it in the oven for 25 minutes.
Take the cake out and immediately pour on the syrup. Keep cool (the
cake, not you).
        Simple, no?

BTW, anyone who likes sci-fi and has not yet seen "The 5th
Element"... go see it! See it if you're a Gary Oldman or Ian Holm fan, too.
Good flick!
