Hello again

Hello everybody, this is Hart, back in cyberspace again.

My two cents on the current topics:

First of all, you all need to not get so mad at each other.

Even if the other person is being completely stupid, you

will accomplish nothing by being upset about each other's

opinions. The fact that you are defensive does not support

the point you are trying to articulate. I don't know what

led up to the hostility, but from the perspective of

someone who just stumbled upon this, it looks needlessly

personal. We're all Who fans here, right? We're all

beautiful people who are brought together by our

appreciation of a great band, so love each other. Respect

your fellow Who-fan, even if you think he/she/it is being

stupid, ignorant, or wrong.

Dylan and the Beatles broke new ground, yes. The Who were

among bands and musicians that followed in the footsteps

of these two greats in some ways and others. In all

fairness, the Who broke a lot of new ground. Many people

have not followed the Who's ground-breaking achievements

because they are not capable of doing so. Townshend's creativity, both
musically and lyrically are unique powers

that have qualities unique in the world of rock. In

Townshend's rock operas, rock musicals, and other extended

works, Townshend displays clarity, musicianship, and

meaning that are virtually unparalleled in the world of

music as a whole, let alone the rock arena. Entwistle and

Moon brought furocious energy and virtuosity to the

sport of rock that can never be recaptured. Daltrey's

skill as a showman and program manager also give the Who

a depth and presence that cannot be mimicked.

BTW, I don't think its fair to use Townshend's devotion

to Meher Baba as an example of later rock artists

following that Beatles. Anyone who has read the literature

that comes with the <underline>Who Came
First</underline> album knows that

Pete was genuinely moved by Meher Baba, not just following

some lead put out there by the Beatles.

A new album for the sake of making great music would be

great, but a new album for the sake of a new album would

be no album at all (figuritively speaking, that is). That

was one of the big problems with the 80's, too many groups

deciding that it was time to make a new album without

really having an artistic motivation behind the endeavor.

Sorry 6.5' guy, if I buy a ticket to see a show, I do

indeed have a legal right to see the show. If everyone

stands, that's great. But other times are not appropriate.

Fortunately, I have never had that problem. One big

problem I've had seeing The Who are these pricks who yell

"WOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!" in the middle of the song each and

every time they hear something they recognize. Nothing

short of an elbow in the ribs shuts these idiots up, and

that doesn't even work for long if they're too drunk. The

exhuberance is great, but when the "WOO!!!" is louder than

the music, that's very uncool.

The Lakewood Who show was the best concert I've ever seen

in my entire life. If it hasn't been done to death

already, would anyone like to start a lively banter about

it with me?

I'm glad to be back on-line with you all again. You're all

wonderful. I love you all.
