If these things follow a pattern, with the pattern being what Pink
Floyd and The Stones have done the last two times out, we will
probably see a live album from this tour. I'm not completely happy
about this...I hate to see The Who fall into the "old Rock band"
catagory. And, too, such an album is likely to be so perfect sounding
that it won't be very exciting (like JOIN TOGETHER) in comparison to
the live show. On the other hand, the show was so good that in a way
I wouldn't mind having such a souvenir. I'd hope they don't make it
too perfect, like they do most of the live albums these days.
Best of all, and possible if not likely: a new studio album. If
Townshend has indeed come to terms with The Who, as it appears he has,
it could happen. Perhaps even the abandoned Siege project Pete was
working on in 1982? I'd love to see that.
But...I think it would be better for them not to release a studio
album if it's not great. A mediocre album would be worse than none at
all, IMHO.
What do you guys think?
I don't see any other category to put them in other than " Old rock
band "
