You're completely wrong on this score Arthur.  The cheque book incident
was well documented in the ' 60s.  The lad in question was showing off, he
didn't even have a bank account let alone a cheque book and he certainly
didn't have the money for the fine. 


My other favourite documented piece of bravado concerned a lad who
pulled out a gun on a club bouncer.  The bouncer warned the youth that
he'd better be prepared to use it - or god help him.  The youth replied 'I
can't, I ain't got any facking bullets 'ave I?' - It was of course, a toy gun.
