Pete, and other (Lesser!) poets :) :) :)

Vac, I thought that post about TS Eliot was realy cool, and reminded me
of an 'insight' I'd had in TAG English a few months ago...

Okay, any of ya'll know a Wordsworth poem called "My Heart Leaps Up"? We
had to read it for the unit on Romantic era poets. I looked it over, and
said to myself, "This is like a really sappy version of 'My
Generation'!" It really surprised me. :) The poem talks about how the
poet always got really excited over things like rainbows when he was a
little kid, and how cool all that was. Then he goes on to say that he
hopes he can still be like that when he's an old man, and if not, he'd
rather die. Hope I die before I get old! I was so impressed that when it
came time to do my paper I went on a bit about the connection between
the song and the poem, and the (as my teacher put it) 'psychadelic'
era's realationship to the Romantic era.

I still think "My Generation" is better, though. I hate poems about
rainbows. :) :) :)
