Strange Exits

I noticed a similarity in two lines from PT songs and wondered if anyone knew
what the meaning is behind the lines? The lines are from Long Live Rock and
Keep Me Turning, respectively: 

...People walk in sideways, pretending that they're leaving...

...I've got a ticket, 
Just got to get past the picket.
The trick is to walk in
Like you were walking out...


Some sort of Mod night-club-head-game-hipness-prover?
