PT's looking back

Having been a Who fan since the mid-1970's, I know that some things never
change. Ever since I became involved rumours seem to follow these guys more
than most bands - we have always been wondering when they will tour, will they
self-destruct if they do tour, will they self-destruct if they don't tour, etc.

One of the things which I have also always heard is how obsessed this band is
with its own history. I became a fan right around the time of Quad's release,
and remember all the criticism that the album didn't create any new insight,
but was rather just looking at where the band came from 10 years before. That
was followed ny the Tommy film, and the '75-76 Roger is God/Tommy revision
tour (yes, I love that tour, but it did contain a lot of Tommy...) - again,
all criticised for looking back. Well, here we are in the mid-90's, and
Pete is once again looking back to Quad, Lifehouse, and Tommy once again.

Becuase of this, I would sincerely doubt that Pete is looking for "closure" -
just the opposite, I don't think he's capable of it. I am not sure he ever
looks at one of these projects as "finished." Further, given the # of projects
of his that have never reached fruition, I can't blame him for continuing to
want to revisit those that did, and get them somewhat "right." Given his
semi-manic personality, "right" is going to be constantly changing...

I admit to also being very surprised by his actions in the past 6-8 months -
restaging Quad with the full band, going back into "Lifehouse," doing the
club shows, etc. - but have learned not to be too surprised by anything that
goes on with this band.

Last - for what its worth - this morning's Boston Globe is reporting 5 nights
at Madison Square for July, with no specific dates confirmed yet... but this
is probably just coming off the same press release we have already heard
about.

Nobody asked - just my humble opinion on all this...

PS - If anyone hears when the PT Fillmore Westwood 1 broadcast will take place
in Boston, please post it. I know 2 NH stations (100.3 and 101.1) have Sunday
eve concerts at 9 and 9:30, and sometimes use Westwood One sources for these,
but haven't heard any announcement yet.
